Film photography in 2026

Our take

As I embark on a fresh start with my wife, I’m excited to explore a new career in film photography. With my background as a small business owner, I understand the intricacies of running a business and now wish to channel that experience into creating and selling artful photography. I’m specifically interested in capturing authentic moments on film, steering clear of stock images and portraits.

I have a want to become a film photographer for a job. Soon my wife and I are having a fresh start somewhere so it’s an opportunity for me to start a new career.

I’m currently a small business owner so I know the ins and outs of actually running a business but I want to use this time with my stable income and free time to start building a film photography business.

The goal is of course sell photos for art and not do stock images or portraits. Does anyone have any advice on how to start selling or what people are interested in?

I figured too with film I can use no ai in my marketing? Especially since I would have the film stock I can always prove the image is authentic.

I’m just brainstorming right now so if you have any advice on what people are actually buying or things you wish you knew when you started that would be awesome! Thank you!
