Using AI to manipulate and NOT generate an image?

I have a photo where the subject stays the same and I changed the background and added a reflection using AI assisted tools. Is this seen as okay since it’s not generating the image? Where is the line drawn? I know that a lot of people discuss the use of AI to denoise/remove objects/etc, and I wondered where this falls in that argument.
