What is 'day dress' dress code? 🙏 advice please!

I got invited to an event at Government House and I am a bit at a loss on the dress code. It's lounge suit for men or 'day dress' for women.

I feel like this just kind of means a professional, modest, dress, right?

I do not want to go too corporate because I don't really have corporate clothes - and this event is taking place in a tropical climate. I work in the environmental field and would like to wear something within dress code that fits with my personality and comfort level.

I would really appreciate any advice!!

  • Picture 1 is a dress I could buy that I think I would feel good in - wondering if it would fit the dress code
  • Picture 2 is similar to a dress I have - a green eyelet dress, but mine is lighter green, feels a bit more causal, tiered skirt, etc. This dress is really comfy but I feel like it is swallowing me a bit when I wear it, feel like a cupcake.
  • Picture 3 is me in a dress I own. It might work, but may be too short for the dress code. and plus I shrunk it in the wash so it might not fit properly anymore ;((

Please let me know if you have any advice !! On the dress, but also on shoes. What I have available is a low heeled professional sandal, or a glossy black low heeled shoe with buckles, or buy something else. Thank you so much!!!

PS sorry if this was the wrong sub for this but I am having trouble asking this Q in womens fashion subs
