| | I posted here asking for constructive criticism mid summer 2025, and honestly, the responses helped me a lot ( https://www.reddit.com/r/MODELING/s/orrUrfTe5m ) My original goal was commercial modeling, and many of you pointed out that I was not presenting that clearly in my photos. A lot of the feedback centered around going more natural when it comes to digitals, softening the overall look, improving posing, and learning how to come across as more commercial rather than overly “done.” Based on that, one photographer from this community reached out to me and generously did a shoot for me in a much more commercial direction. She was amazing, and I feel like for the first time I understood the difference between just taking photos and actually creating images that make sense for the market I’m interested in. - Transitioning from commercial (Nike + other brands) to editorial.Hey everyone, I’m a model based in Portland, Oregon and I’ve been modeling for about 3 years now. Most of my work has been on the commercial/sportswear side, I’ve worked consistently with Nike (including being featured on the front page of Nike.com), and have also modeled for other brands as well. I’ve also auditioned or done self-tapes for brands like Adidas and The North Face. Lately, I’ve been trying to transition more into editorial/high-fashion work. I’ve started doing more test shoots in that direction, experimenting with a more androgynous / feminine-masculine look inspired by Prince, and pushing more creative styling and posing. My agency contract is also ending in about 2 months, so I’m trying to figure out my next steps and whether I should be targeting agencies/markets that lean more editorial. I’d really appreciate honest feedback on: - Do I have a look that can translate into editorial/high fashion? - What would I need to improve or refine to break more into that space? - Should I be focusing on digitals, more test shoots, or trying to get in front of specific agencies?
